The Sound Track

Sound tracks indicate post production Sound design

Post Production Sound

Post-production is all activity that happens after the filming has ended and where Picture Editing and Sound Editing continue. ‘Post-Production Sound‘ refers to the design and build of a film’s entire soundtrack.

The general public often misuses the term ‘Sound Track’ to imply the music track from a motion picture; this is a misnomer that sprung from the music industry to sell records. Rather, a film’s soundtrack refers to all synchronized audio that runs alongside the picture elements, including:

  • Dialogue and/or Narration
  • Sound Effects
  • Music

The Sound Designer heads a team that creates a rich and layered audio experience that enhances the movie’s story.
